Remember the Bobby McFerrin song? “Don’t worry, be happy” When I was in grade school, whenever that song came on the radio all of us in the bus would just flip out, singing at the top of our lungs! “Don’t worry, be happy”. No matter what happens in your life, just don’t stress out.
In that song, Bobby McFerrin talks about the fact that even if you don’t have a place to lay your head. Don’t worry. If you didn’t pay your landlord, the rent, or he’s gonna sue you.
Don’t worry, Be Happy…
Would it be great if life was just that easy? You just could ignore things, and all your problems would go away.
Don’t worry, be happy…
In this blog post I’m going to look at Psalms. I’m going to dig into two different Psalm verses, where God’s Word tells us to see how you can have happiness and joy in your life.
In Psalm 1:1 It gives you God’s formula on how you’re to live life to be happy. Psalm 1:1 Says; Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.
Did you notice the progression there? God says don’t walk with those who are evil. Don’t stand around with them to be counted in their number, don’t just sit down and say, Well, this is my group.
If you want to be blessed!? God says, avoid the evil influences that are around you. Verse two says; after you avoid the evil influences. God says this, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Have you delighted in God’s law? When you look at God’s law, you realize – I can’t do this. I haven’t fulfilled this. Not fulfilling God’s law corrupts you, but trying to fulfill God’s law can save you.
That’s why we’ve got Jesus Christ who fulfilled all of the law, all of the commands of our Almighty God. And you can be forgiven by His mercy.
Do you want to be happy? Avoid the evil, run to Jesus and His peace! Then meditate on him, and he would give you joy!!
