Someone just asked me a question the other day, and I thought it was interesting. It was this, Does God want me to be happy? And I guess that would go along with the question, is he interested in whether I’m happy or not?
I think it’s a good question, and I want us to think about it for just a few minutes. The key word to it, is that it’s more of an abiding place. Happiness comes and goes, it’s there and it’s dependent upon, wether your circumstances are going well or not.
So, a new car might make us happy and a old car might make us unhappy, but joy isn’t affected by those things because of that deeper place in which it’s rooted. Also, it comes from the the Holy Spirit.
In Galatians 5:22 it says But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness..
The Lord wants us to live in joy and joy comes with in that deep sense that we are connected with God, that no matter what the circumstance, it can feel just like happiness, but it doesn’t come and go. It rests there, and it’s a place where we can continually go and find the joy of the Lord.
So, we don’t have to go and restore joy, we just go where God dwells. You will ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. The Lord wants us to know the fullness of abiding in his presence.
Sometimes we have to get away from those temporal things that just only trigger happiness or unhappiness and go to that place inside of our hearts Where the Spirit dwells.
Abide in his love, and just begin to meditate on the fact that Jesus loves me with an unconditional and wavering love. I might be up and down in my emotions, but he never is. And as we abide in the Lord, and we wait in his love for us. Just tell him, Lord, I love you so much, that joy is restored and I pray that for each one of us today. Lord restore our joy. In Jesus name, Amen…
